Selling the House

Sunday, October 30, 2016

I don't want to forget all the parts of our move that were both great and crazy! Selling our house was crazy. We got our offer for the job in Utah and found a realtor just a couple days later. Lauren met with us on a Sunday I believe and it was posted the following Friday or so? So it happened fast! We de-cluttered the house some, had the carpets cleaned and had professional photos taken before listing.

After our listing went live we had about 5 or 6 showings and on the last day (about 4 days in) we got a great full price offer. They were another young family with one little girl and it just felt meant to be! We accepted their offer on July 27 and were so happy to have that part done with! Sadly, our house looked amazing and we really didn't want to leave it! haha. But we were grateful it was a relatively pain free process overall and are happy that others will appreciate it as much as us.

Goodbye house. We loved you so much. We brought both our babies home to you. Lots of parties, laughing and love was held here! Fiestas and egg tosses in the backyard. Friends playing in the front yard and friendly caring neighbors. You will truly be missed!! Thanks for being our perfect first home.

This made things seem so real!

Time for Change

Back in February on a trip to Dallas Jason casually mentioned that he wanted to consider a new job. He wasn't really happy with his position at Dell anymore and just felt like there wasn't any more room for growth there. Plus, 5 years at any company is a good amount of time and he was ready for some change and to experience a new company and new challenges. I was 3 months pregnant and said that of course I wanted him to be happy and that he should starting looking for a new job in Austin right away. I didn't even want to consider leaving Round Rock and told him that I wanted to have our baby in Austin and be with my friends etc. He consented to look for a job in Austin for the time being but wanted me to be open to other places also.

Jason looked for a few months and worked with a local recruiter with no luck. So at this point I consented to let him look in the Salt Lake area (where he had some connections left from BYU and previous Dell co workers).

Soon after, he got a interview in Utah for a company called Instructure. It was a complicated process since he was filling a position for someone going overseas and we further complicated things by only being available to start at certain times because of the baby. We didn't know for awhile if it was going to work out and my emotions were being pulled back and forth between wanting to leave and wanting to stay.

FINALLY, in July he got an official offer and we accepted. Jason was so excited for a new company and a new job. Of course my mom was thrilled that we were moving back and Jason's brother Brady is also in Salt Lake. Plus Jason's parents are only a 2.5 hour drive away and his older brother Michael is just 3 hours away in the opposite direction. Also we do have lots of friends here from college days and others that have moved from Texas back to Utah. So there were lots of things that made us excited about Utah. Plus, it's really important to me that Jason be happy where he works. If he is going to spend all day 5 days a week away from us then I want him to enjoy what is he doing for all that time!

But man was I heartbroken to leave all my amazing friends in Round Rock and an awesome church ward. We were so blessed with so many friends and wonderful people in our life and I knew that I wouldn't have that just anywhere that we went.

So at about 38 weeks pregnant we accepted the job offer and planned to sell our house, buy a new house and have the baby just like that! I'll write more as we go along in this adventure.

32 Weeks Update!

Sunday, April 6, 2014

I can't believe I've made it to 32 weeks! This has seemed like a long pregnancy so far and can't believe I still have 8 more weeks to go! I know I need that time to keep mentally preparing but I'm running out of physical things to do to prepare.

At this point:
  • Nursery is done! All decorations are finished and her closet, dresser etc. are all organized.
  • I've made my own bows and burp rags and that is about all the craftiness I have. I can definitely keep making more but I've taken a hiatus for now.
  • My back is hurting more and more and earlier in the day. I think sitting at my desk all day is getting harder but I don't know how to avoid it as short walks don't' help (I still need to be at my desk 7 hours to get work done).
  • I've read 4 or 5 parenting/baby books so far and have 4 or 5 more I'd like to read before she arrives. I really enjoying learning all these perspectives and how babies work!
  • I get indigestion most nights as I sit in bed. If I can fall asleep quickly, it isn't as bad but it's rather uncomfortable at night.
  • I'm still doing zumba and signed up for another 4 weeks but I think people are starting to wonder if this baby will pop out while I do my moves!
  • My feet seem to be in a constant state of swelling and if I walk around a lot in one day they blow up even more. It's making it hard for me to have shoes that fit my feet anymore! I sure hope they go back to normal size after the baby!
  • It's getting harder and harder to get up and down from sitting/bed etc. I guess I get what people are talking about now!
  • I've become obsessed with garage sales! I've only been able to go a few Saturdays since I often have to work or other things. It's fun finding bargains and saving some money since there is so much to get for a new baby!
  • I'm still enjoying my nightly baths and I'm still sleeping pretty well for now but it depends on the day.
I have my 32 week appointment tomorrow and then we head to Utah to see family and for my baby shower! I'm so excited!
