Selling the House

Sunday, October 30, 2016

I don't want to forget all the parts of our move that were both great and crazy! Selling our house was crazy. We got our offer for the job in Utah and found a realtor just a couple days later. Lauren met with us on a Sunday I believe and it was posted the following Friday or so? So it happened fast! We de-cluttered the house some, had the carpets cleaned and had professional photos taken before listing.

After our listing went live we had about 5 or 6 showings and on the last day (about 4 days in) we got a great full price offer. They were another young family with one little girl and it just felt meant to be! We accepted their offer on July 27 and were so happy to have that part done with! Sadly, our house looked amazing and we really didn't want to leave it! haha. But we were grateful it was a relatively pain free process overall and are happy that others will appreciate it as much as us.

Goodbye house. We loved you so much. We brought both our babies home to you. Lots of parties, laughing and love was held here! Fiestas and egg tosses in the backyard. Friends playing in the front yard and friendly caring neighbors. You will truly be missed!! Thanks for being our perfect first home.

This made things seem so real!

Nursery for Baby Girl

Monday, April 7, 2014

By popular request....our nursery reveal! We have put so much time into every detail and I'm so happy with how it turned out. It's bright, practical and fun. And it's the perfect combination of girly and usable for future children not to mention-Jason and I enjoyed putting it together as a labor of love and combines things about each of us that we love.

The heart wall colors inspired our other decor. I love them!

Don't ask us how many times we put these on the wall and repositioned them. I'm sure glad our marriage survived the "heart wall placement of 2014."

My good friend Cami made me this rag banner for my baby shower and I love it! Don't worry I know it's a choking hazard so I'll move it once she actually sleeps in here but it makes me so happy, I love to look at it!

My parents rocked me and my brother in this rocking chair and my grandmother rocked my dad in it. It's really special since I remember this rocking chair in my room growing up! And I love the fun pattern on the curtains!

This owl lamp was our first purchase for the baby room once Jason let me start shopping! (I wanted to start at like 5 weeks pregnant, ha!) This was a black end table we had that we repainted a coral color that we think turned out great!
We also painted the wall shelves below the same color.

Again, a mix of fun and practical on the bookcase. We have lots of books, many from my childhood and lots inherited from friends or from thrift stores.
My stepdad gave me that piggy bank and I love it!That lamp by the door will hopefully be soft enough for night feedings and is right by the door so should be easy to access.

The empty frames will be filled with a maternity photo (we are taking them in 2 weeks) and I'm sure some photos of our baby girl.

Jason's mom made us the prophet sign for Christmas and we thought it was perfect for baby girl's room. Right next to her cute red headed father's photo.
Isn't  Jason adorable as a little kid?

I'm mildly obsessed with bows and headbands and it's been fun making them and hunting for bargains. I got this necklace holder on Amazon and it works great for the headbands that I don't want to squish into the jar :) I have all the bows in the closet on a some of my own handmade bow  holders!

This mirror is perfect for what I wanted: able to see baby girl on my shoulder and/or see myself in the event of spit up etc.
I'm sure it will be fun for baby girl to look at and smile too :)

We are using this dresser as our changing table and we love how big it is for storing clothes and items as well as room to put things on top for quick access. We love the art above the dresser too, the middle one has the name we have picked out but we aren't revealing it yet!

Love this quote from one of my favorite musicals- Gigi. So feminine and sweet.

A little ode to Jason's French and I love all the colors.

We can't wait for baby girl to come and enjoy her room as much as we love visiting it and filling it with things for her!

First Christmas at Home!

Friday, January 24, 2014

Ok that title is semi-misleading but it was shorter than "First Christmas at our New House!" It was fun setting up our house for Christmas, having friends over and having our own Christmas just the two of us.

We kept it pretty simple this year, we had a nice dinner out and then came home and got in our PJ's and had our own Christmas exchange.  We had a lot to be thankful for with a new home and new baby on the way. Jason definitely spoiled me though as I only got him a few small presents and he spoiled me (but I'm not complaining).

From Erin and Chris-can't wait to see him grilling in this!
And so excited about these cute decals for baby's monthly pictures!
My gift to Jason- I was so happy when I found this shirt for him. It says "The mountains are calling and I must go!" He loves Texas but definitely misses the mountains a lot!

Sweet gifts from my dear friend Jessica-she is the cutest.
Ok I have to tell teh store behind these beautiful bracelets.

Thsi year at work, I was in charge of curating a silent auction for our big gala (in addition to all my other duties from last year). It was a massive undertaking but I had fun and learned a lot. I gathered (with help from a committee) over 200 auction items. There were trips, jewelry, spa days, restaurant gift cards, etc. But the one thing I wanted from the entire lot was a set of 3 pearl bracelets. They were beautiful yet affordable and I asked my husband and my dad to bid on them at the night of my event.

My event came and they knew their mission! My dad and Jason kept bidding all night until finally someone got the final bid on the "Buy it now" option where you pay 150% of value (great for my auction, not great for me!). Jason told me I didn't get them that night and I was bummed but knew life would go on!

Then Christmas came and I opened several presents that I loved-a pretty maternity shirt and a baby heart beat doppler- seriously amazing gift! But then he ran upstairs and brought back this perfectly wrapped gift. And what was inside? The pearl bracelets. He had gone to the store where they got him all set up with the bracelets and in turn, made me feel like a queen. The pearls are beautiful but the thought behind them made my Christmas!

And my parents got us this beautiful painting of Christ with a baby and we hung it that same night. Jason's parents bought us our baby dresser and we feel so lucky to have such a loving and generous family. This baby is going to be spoiled with love!

Merry Christmas! Dallas Christmas photos to come next!

House Tour!

Monday, September 16, 2013

We are all moved into our new house and I have to say. We truly love it. We love the openness and natural light. We love the space. We love having a place to call our own. We LOVE having room for plenty of visitors. We feel very blessed.

It's been so fun getting it all set up and although I do get what people say about never feeling finished, Jason and I find that to be fun.

Jason is loving (for now) doing the yard and really taking pride in the outside of our home. I work more on the decorations and adding pops of color and personality to each room.

I'd say we are 95% done which feels really great.

Now on to the photos! Just FYI, the house was built in 1994, has 3 bedrooms and an office as well as 2.5 baths. We live in an HOA neighborhood and have 2 pools and playgrounds just a couple streets away. We are also walking distance to the elementary school which will be nice one day!

Jason has since trimmed these trees so we can actually see our house! I'll have to update those photos soon.

The first room on the right when you enter is the formal dining room.
We are lucky enough to have my MeMaw's table here and it looks beautiful.
We can't wait to have family holiday dinners around this table one day!

The only furniture we have left to buy are our dining room chairs. I have them picked out but I am trying to practice patience in waiting to buy them!

This sideboard is great for storage and I decorated on top to express a lot of who we are. There are items from our travels, my favorite cookbooks, family heirlooms etc. It feels so "us" in a quirky way and I love that it adds color to the room.

The office is across from the formal dining room. This is my desk!

My little photos on this board make me so happy to see friends and family on there.

Jason's desk. He likes to practice minimalism.
We love each having our own space to work and the room still feels
a part of the house and very spacious.
Our breakfast nook where we eat daily.

This is my new food blog station and I love it. I'm able to keep a lot of dishes "props" within easy reach but also use them as decor and to add color to the room. It's seriously perfect.

The home came with a stainless steel dishwasher and stove and then we bought a new fridge to match. We LOVE all of them!
This cabinet just made me happy. So colorful and everything has a place!

Love having a gas range! It is so much nicer for cooking and I feel like I have a lot more control.

I thought this pantry was too small at first but it seems to be working great!
I have food storage in the garage too so that helps!

Jason was very happy to finally be able to do dishes and watch TV again too. I'm not complaining either since he has been so helpful around the house. He cleans a lot more than me. I'm a lucky girl!
Our whole living room, Jason requested the mounted TV and his recliner. He received both- I figured that wasn't too much to ask since I have asked for lots more than that!
This view is literally the reason we bought this house. All of the living areas are open so it's so so nice for entertaining and just feeling like a really big space. Not to mention we have a whole wall of windows that makes it beautiful when filled with natural light.

We love our new purple love seat and I hope to do a photo wall here soon.

The walk up the stairs. These light fixtures are on our "to upgrade" list,
hopefully in the next 6 months.
Our little landing area. That's a linen closet straight ahead.
The landing looks down on the front door which is nice. It makes the house feel so open too.
This yellow room is currently a 2nd guest bedroom/storage.
We hope to have it be a nursery one day!
Our guest bedroom. It's ready for visitors anytime!
Although we have already had 3 sets and it has been a blast!

The guest bathroom.

Our master suite. It's so relaxing and Jason and I picked up out everything together. We love having real nightstands and I love those lamps that I hunted for. I love having a bench at the end of the bed to put on shoes, etc.

This is my sink and makeup mirror. LOVE. The previous owner just remodeled the whole master bath this year. It is all granite and it's especially nice to each have our own space.

Jason's sink. That photo has since moved. lol.
It has a nice big tub that I have still yet to try out!

We love the tiled shower with the cool inlay.
Plenty of closet space for both of us. (Jason's side not pictured). I'm just very proud of my color coated clothes AND shoes. :)
We have a nice big (long) backyard. We have had a couple gatherings outside and it has been so fun for our friend's kids.
Jason loves his new grill that my parents bought us as a housewarming gift. We grill 2-3 time per week and love it. Thanks Dad and Carol!

Finally, our laundry/mud room. I have had fun getting this all organized.

That's it folks! We love it so much and are so happy to be settled!
