Nora at 4 Months

Monday, October 13, 2014

I'm a week late in getting this up but we were out of town (New Orleans! Post coming soon) and we didn't have time to post it before leaving!

Nora is getting more and more fun these days. 4 months is definitely my favorite age so far but I think I will keep saying that!

I think this is my favorite!

Her phantom "sucky" face-sucking with no hands or binky
I can't get enough of those eyes!
Love her little smirk at the camera while dad tries to get her to put her arms down!

All about Nora at 4 months:
  •  She weighs 14 pounds 2  ounces and is in the 50% for weight, 24.5 inches long and 53% for height, and her head is in the 17% (tiny head like her mama!).
  • She has become an excellent night sleeper-what a blessing! She now goes to sleep between 7-8pm and sleeps until I wake her up to eat around 11pm before I go to bed. Then she sleeps until just about 7 in the morning. Most mornings i can feed her again and she will sleep until 8:30 or 9:30 allowing me extra sleep or to be really productive (ha! this rarely happens). I don't want to get greedy but I may try cutting the 11pm feeding soon so I could go to bed earlier but I am definitely not complaining because this is great. She still needs her swaddle because she flails and wakes herself up without it.
  • We have a routine of swaddling, feeding, and singing/rocking for a few minutes before we put her to bed- whether she is awake or asleep. We let her cry it out if she isn't asleep and it works really well. She knows she needs her sleep!
  • She is napping several times a day still but not on a schedule, basically after 1-2 hours of being awake I put her to sleep and she usually sleeps for about 45 minutes. I'm working on extending those but no luck yet, but since night is so good I'm taking it one step at a time.
  • She rolled for the first time on September 30 and has done it twice since then! It totally caught her off guard the first time but now she doesn't seem to think it's a big deal! But she is doing it so rarely that we get excited when she does it.
  • She's still awesome at tummy time and doesn't cry until it's been quite awhile and she would rather chew on her hands.
  • She is obsessed with her hands. She likes her whole fist, her two middle fingers, her thumb- she doesn't discriminate! It makes lots of things difficult because she want to eat her hands (mainly these photos! but also changing clothes, swaddling etc.).
  • Her hair is definitely red and eyes are bright blue. When Jason wears her in the carrier people always say "Twins!" or "She looks just like you" (totally ignoring me but obviously, I don't mind ;)
  • She still loves "Wheels on the bus" but also loves Pat a Cake and Itsy Bitsy Spider now.
  • She loves when I tickle her face with my hair or when Jason tickles her neck.
  • She smiles a lot and has a great demeanor in general. People always comment on what a cute happy baby she is and we agree!
  • Peek a boo is also a new favorite that gets huge smiles!
  • I got her a jumper/swing thing that hangs in the doorway at a garage sale and she loves it. She turns all around in it and we "jump" it up and down for her (she hasn't gotten the concept that she can do it herself yet) and we lift her legs and use it as a swing and she loves it.
  • She doesn't have meltdowns or freak outs much anymore (maybe 1 a week or less)
  • She is a great nurser still and only cries during nursing if she is super exhausted which would be my fault anyways so she is doing so great!
  • Crowds of people and loud groups are less intimidating to her now. She still gets worried when little kids get all up in her face but  I don't think she will be as introverted as I was worried about.
  • She can grasp things with her hands now which always surprises me. She likes to take  her binky out and she has grabbed glasses or straws on tables and can finally hold a toy when we give her one. She is getting to like toys more but definitely doesn't understand them all the way yet!
  • She rotates between tummy time, bumbo, play mat, naps and hanging with Mom most of the day and she is a good little buddy to run errands with.
  • She definitely knows who Jason and I are now and it's so rewarding. We get big smiles while playing or after waking up.
We love you Nora!

  1. Cutest girl in the valley. 4 months is a good age! I think my favorite phase is 4 months until walking :)
