Karen and Jedd Come to Visit!

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Jason's parent's came to visit last month and it was such a fun trip! The only request they had was that they ate from sunup to sundown, so of course, we obliged!

All trips to Austin MUST start at Torchy's for the best tacos in town. M&D instantly fell in love with the unique and delicious offerings. They will be pleased to know that one opened up even closer to our house so many more trips to come next time they visit!
Second, we stopped by the South Congress food trucks to get ourselves a delicious treat. My favorite cupcake in the whole world resides there in shiny little trailer with a giant cupcake on top. Hey Cupcake! was a hit as well and we headed back to our apartment in Round Rock with two delicious visits under our loosened belts.
To work off some of the heavy food we subjected my parents to we made the short drive to Mount Bonnell. The short nature walk provides beautiful views of the lake and the beautiful mansions that line it as city views.

The next morning we finally got to the place my mother was most excited about: Round Rock Donut. Although we did not choose the giant donut, we did enjoy a mix of delicious flavors to fuel us for our shopping trip at the outlet mall later that day. But first.... our favorite BBQ place Rudy's.

You can see the food coma starting already in my mother's eyes as we waited in line for our brisket.

It was my parents vacation but Kasee carpe diemed the outing to the outlet mall by snagging these beauties. She knows that I can't say no to her if there is a swoosh on it....

After a quick rest back home we headed down to the University of Texas campus. Look at how excited I was to pose for this picture. We had the best time ever.

As if we didn't eat enough all weekend we headed over to Chuy's for some delicious TexMex for their last meal. I can't say that any of us were hungry at this point but we battled through it and enjoyed it anyway.
Our last moments together were spend at the South Congress bridge to watch the bats fly out. Hundreds of thousands of bats live under the bridge in downtown Austin. Each night the bats fly and to hunt creating quite the spectacle.

We had a great time eating the weekend away! Can't wait for the next visit!
