Like Mother, Like Daughter

In honor of my mom's birthday today, I thought I would do a little tribute to her!

My mom is great. If you know her, you know how much we are alike (not the great part but the everything else part!)

A few years ago I found a picture of me in black and white and I thought it was strange. It turned out it was my mom at the same age I was and we looked exactly alike! Not only do we often get told we look alike but we have the same positive and negative attributes.

My mom is very thoughtful, she is always concerned with making everyone happy and doing little things for people. She looks out for me by telling about good sales she has been to or recipes I should try. She has also welcomed Jason into our family with open arms which has been so wonderful. She doesn't complain when Jason and I bring huge loads of laundry on Sundays when we visit either!

However, we are often the same in our little idiosyncrasies...We get upset (and offended) easily and overreact to small things and we are quick to make shrieking noises in the car while others are driving.

But everytime I do the same things my Mom does, it just makes me happy that I have part of her in me, because her good parts definitely outweigh those trivial parts.

Its been so great having her close by for all of college, even if sometimes its hard to admit! We have had several great girl dates going shopping and just chatting at Guru's.

My mom is also a lot like my grandma. We call her "Bernice" sometimes when she points around the table to tell everyone what we have for dinner [though they can clearly tell for themselves]. Of course now I do the same thing! There isn't much of a greater compliment to anyone though than being compared to my wonderful grandmother who we both miss dearly.

My mom also has the best sense of humor, she is slightly ridiculous and very cheap. She has no problem laughing at herself and her cooking or when I call her out about her quiet opinions [ha!].

I can't wait to become more and more like her as I get older. She is so smart! She has worked in the business world for over 30 years and she has such a strong testimony of the gospel. I always call her first when looking for advice regarding anything.

Thanks for doing all you have done for me my whole life Mom! You are beautiful and wonderful and such an inspiration to me and a great mom to boot!
Love,
Your favorite daughter
